IYC central leadership visits Boro's second in command.

• Isaac Boro commander, Owonaro hails Porri, says Boro lives in him.

As part of the activities marking the celebration of the late Major Isaac Boro, the leadership of the zone under the distinguished chairmanship of Barr. Tare Porri, paid a courtesy visit to the home of Boro's second in command, Capt. Sam Owonaro (rtd).

Owonaro was Boro’s second in command who also fought against the federal forces in a battle that lasted 12 days before they were overwhelmed, tried and jailed.

Owonaro, now the only surviving dissident of his era, lives in Kaiama, Bayelsa State, on a wheelchair.

The IYC leadership met with him and offered him support and other financial benefits, as part of the celebration for their heroic deeds in emancipation of the Niger Delta region and the Ijaw tribe.

Owonaro who was delighted at the visit, commended the leadership, he described Barr. Porri as one with the spirit of Boro, who has what it takes to better the lots of Ijaw people.

Porri in his statement, insisted that Ijaw people must remain as one indivisible entity where everyone is treated fairly,  emphasising that the contribution of the Owonaros and Boros to the development of Nigeria and the Ijaw people must not be under-estimated.
