IYC DEBUNKS RUMOURS OF PURPORTED CONVENTION AT OKRIKA.

ABUJA: The leadership of the Ijaw youths council (IYC) Worldwide has released a press statement debunking rumours of a purported IYC National convention set to hold 4th of February 2017 at Okrika, Rivers state.

The statement which was made by the Council's President, Engr. Udengs Eradiri, dated January 30th 2017, called on the general public and all Ijaw youths, elders, to disregard such reports as it did not emanated from the Council.

According to him, "The IYC Leadership has not fixed a date for a national convention. Mr. Mike Wenebowei,  Jephthah Kalati and Jeremiah Owoupele who signed the announcement calling for the purported convention do not have the powers to call for IYC convention or Congress. Ijaw youths should wait for the leadership to give direction and we also call on security agencies to call the above mentioned persons to order to avoid acts that may lead to breakdown of law and order"
