INSECURITY: IYC CALLS ON RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT TO ENGAGE ALL ETHNIC LEADERS IN A TOWNHALL MEETING.

The President of the Ijaw youths council (IYC) Worldwide, Engr. Udengs Eradiri has described the high rate of kidnapping in oil rich Rivers state as a strategic means adopted by enemies of the Niger Delta to further degenerate economic activities of the region, According to him, Rivers state who generates one of the highest revenue for Nigeria, serves as a Host of many Oil Company branches and headquarters, is about to be systemically tossed aside.

Engr. Udengs Eradiri while issuing a statement from London, in a telephone interview with our Correspondent Yesterday, revealed that if drastic measures are not taken, the garden city may lose it's place in terms of economic activities, he narrated the rate of kidnapping as one being politically sponsored to cripple Rivers Economy and boost the Economy of other states.

Udengs therefore emphatically called on the Rivers State Government to engage all Ethnic Group Leaders in the state to a townhall meeting with the purpose of brainstorming on how to tackle the menace of kidnapping in the state which no doubt has drastically abate the Allocation and poses a threat to Multinational Companies on relocating it's Headquarters that serves a major source of Revenue for the State.

According to him, '' The Rivers state Government should engage Ethnic Group leaders in a round table to foster healthy connectivity between the Security personnels and various communities, especially landlords. The perpetrators of insecurity in Rivers state are strangers who come in from other states to cause havoc in the state, if the government engages the Ethnic Group leaders who will later task Landlords to support the security agents by reporting suspected tenants, the issue of insecurity will be curbed because this criminals are the people who come to rent theirs houses from various state'' Comr Udengs Eradiri Said.

He Further said that insecurity in Rivers State is a weighty matter which requires immediate attention because as the trend continues each day it scares Multinational Companies and Private investors from investing in the state therefore, reduces the revenue generated by the state. ''Very recently other companies including  Shell as threatened to move it's Headquarters from Rivers state because of Insecurity and the effect of this will cause a huge blow on Rivers Economy '' He revealed this and call for immediate restoration of security in the state by Government's engagement with Ethnic Group Leaders which is paramount.

He also issued a warning to  multinationals to support the Government and not only make threats of relocating headquarters from the state to other states that do not have the resources which they drill on the soil of Rivers state.

'' if they really want to go they should go entirely and vacate their terminals, branches and activities in the state '' he vehemently said.

On his final note, He said that security is everybody's business and government should play a partnership role by quickly engaging Ethnic Group Leaders to build a synergy that will conquer the enemies of peace in the state and restore prosperity back to the Rich oil State.
