IYC CALLS ON PARLIAMENT TO URGE ZONES TO BE CONSTITUTIONAL

In a letter dated 28th November 2016, the National Executives of the Ijaw youths council (IYC) wrote to the Speaker and members of the IYC parliament notifying them that the National Executive council (NEC) has fulfilled it's constitutional duties in the formation of Electoral committee.

The letter which was signed by the Council's President, Engr. Udengs Eradiri, he made bold that the NEC after meeting held on 5th November 2016, at Warri, Delta State, it's directed all zones and chapters to hold congresses and make nominations for ELECO Members which was inline with Articles (9) section 1,2,3 of the IYC constitution. It maintained that the directive was duly received by the zones and chapters on Tuesday 8th 2016.

The letter further stated that inline to the directives, funds were disbursed to the zones and chapters respectively, with Abuja and Lagos chapters each collecting #300,000, while Western, Eastern and central zones collected #400,000 each with receipt of acknowledgment of Receival.

The statement therefore made bold that following the foregoing, the IYC Executive led by Udengs Eradiri has fulfilled all constitutional requirements as defined by the constitution, so it is therefore waiting on the various zones and chapters to adhere to the IYC constitution which they all swore an oath to conduct their congresses and send Eleco nominees to the Executive which will inturn be ratified by the Parliament.

The statement then urged the parliament to stand up and ensure the constitution of the council is strictly adhered to by following up the process.
