Egbesu leader's backs Simbi Wabote, says faceless MEND is now a Political tool

Leaders of the Egbesu sacred order have described as mischievous and callous the actions of a faceless MEND group calling on President Muhammadu Buhari not to reappoint Engr. Simbi Wabote as Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB) for another 4 year term even as his present tenure winds to an end.

Recall, that a faceless Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), last week Thursday in a statement by one Jomo Gbomo urged President Muhammadu Buhari, not to renew the appointment of Engr. Simbi Wabote, as Executive Secretary.

The Egbesu leader's further stated that Jomo Gbomo was a fictional character created to issue statements in the days of the arms struggle and has since stop being in existence following MEND's disbandment after the acceptance of the Presidential Amnesty, and all its field commanders have also returned to their normal lives.

Speaking on behalf of the group, who issued the statement in warri, was Comrade Ellington Bakumor, the serving priest of the EGBESU BROTHERHOOD.

“We were shocked upon seeing some “supposed” publications from MEND and other faceless groups , it is not a secret that MEND no longer exists , and Jomo Gbomo is long dead , we also know that there are certain elements seeking their personal and selfish gain and always opposing whatever doesn’t benefit them directly", parts of the statement reads.

The group added that calls from this faceless MEND were handiworks of some selfish person's and should be treated as mere rumours and nothing more.

The group concluded by lauding the efforts of Simbi Wabote, noting that he has stimulated innovations in the oil and gas industry, as such deserves another term.

" We have in the same vein observed the person of Engr Wabote in managing the NCDMD, and so far so good it has been nothing less than great and commendable with positive reports and testimonies coming from his office"

“We want to call on the Minister of State petroleum Our leader Timipere Sylva to ignore such calls, that Neither MEND or Jomo Gbomo exists, that Engr Wabote has been the best hand handling that office at this time, and that majority of Ijaw Youths, Ijaw leaders and even Ex Mend generals are solidly behind Engr Wabote", their statement concluded.
