Ijaw Youths demands unconditional release of Numudogio Micah, calls on Security agencies to begin manhunt for Kidnappers
The Leadership of Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) in Brass Local Government area, has, called on security agencies in the state, to facilitate the quick rescue of Chief Numudogio Micah, a staff of the Nigeria Content and Development Monitoring board (NCDMB), who was kidnapped along the Brass-Nembe waterways, on Friday 5th January 2018.
The Youth body condemned the abduction, and described the action as “unwarranted and unprovoked.”
In a statement made available by the Leader of the LGA, Comr. Beledanyo Barass, who is also the treasurer of Ijaw Youths Council, Central zone.
He called on the kidnappers to ensure Chief Numudogio is released unharmed, he noted that the Chief has been a philanthropist with a kind heart and love for youths.
" We are calling on the kidnappers to spare him and release him to us unharmed, he is a man of peace with great love for youths
" This is a man who deserves encomium and commendations from us for the relative tranquility he has brought to us, what has happened to him is undeserving and we condemn it in entirety"
He further said, Ijaw Youths of the LGA will leave no stone unturned as they are prepared to began a search on all creeks in the area to ensure the victim is rescued.
He also called on both the federal and state governments to spare no efforts in ensuring the safe return of the kidnapped chief.
He highlighted the need for the state and Local Government to review the security architecture of the LGA, particularly the Nembe-Brass route by creating a Military Checkpoint within every few Kilometres.
He called on the Federal and state and Local Government to ensure adequate protection of life and property in the area and punish promoters and perpetrators of crimes and subsequent rehabilitation of victims to make the society better.
" On the part of the State Government, we are calling for policies and programmes that will promote the peaceful coexistence"
We are calling for the creation of Job opportunities for the teeming youths in the area, including construction of good roads network, hospitals and schools to control the perennial menace of crimes in the area", he added.
Finally, he called on citizens to be vigilant at all times and report suspicious person or group of persons to the police and other security agencies for prompt action.
