Gen. Young shall grow honored as one of Niger Delta outstanding leader.

- Group says his agitations brought development to the region.

Azuzuama Born Niger Delta freedom fighter and ex-warlord, Chief Selky Kile Torughedi also known as Gen. Young Shall Grow, has been conferred with an outstanding leadership award by a group known as the Coalition of Niger Delta Intellectuals from Diaspora (CNDID), non-governmental organization of Niger Delta Students who studied in various universities abroad.

According to the group, the award was presented to Chief Selky Kile Torughedi also known as Gen. Young Shall Grow in appreciation and recognition of his courageous service to the Niger Delta Region and People.

At a dinner at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja, the group expressed their profound gratitude to the role played by the agitation of Chief Torughedi and his fellow compatriots for the economic and political advancement and development of the Niger Delta Region.

To them, "this agitation and struggles jolted a rise in the human resources development of the Niger Delta People and the region through education, acquisition of skills and infrastructural development via the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the Niger Delta Ministry and the Presidential Amnesty Programme which all came as a result of his struggles and that of his fellow compatriots".

Speaking at the dinner, the group expressed great appreciation for his efforts and roles played to attract federal intervention in order to address and assuage the problems of the region and its people.

The group also spoke on the need for unity amongst all the compatriots stressing that it is necessary for peace in the region and also among all the sister tribes in the region as there can never be any meaningful development without peace in the region, that in fact the region will grind to a halt in terms of agricultural, economic, commercial, Infrastructural and social activities without peace and unity.

In appreciation of the award conferred him, Chief Torughedi enjoined the group to avoid political entanglements but rather focus on their intellectual prowess and to deploy same as think-tanks in order to proffer solutions to the marrieds of proplems facing the Niger Delta; to create programs that will fosters industriousness that will engage the ordinary population in the Niger Delta.

The group thanked Chief Torughedi and also urge him not to relent in the good work of philanthropism and the defense of the economic, educational, infrastructural as well as the political rights of the Niger Delta People and to work consistently with his fellow compatriots continually to move the region forward and also to mend fences with other compatriots where they err so that they can foster an unbreakable cooperation for the highest good of the people and the region.
