Ben Murray-Bruce Recall: Constituents repudiates their claims, withdraws Ultimatum.

Constituents of Bayelsa East Senatorial District of Bayelsa State who had earlier  threatened to begin a process of recalling Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, representing the constituency in the Senate, in a recent statement, repudiated their claims.

It could be recalled that the angry constituents, comprising mainly students, accused the ‘common sense’ Senator of neglecting them as well as having no plans for his constituency.

Murray-Bruce’s constituency comprises Nembe, Brass and Ogbia local government areas of the state.

But in a recent statement made available to Pressmen by the leaders of student bodies for the three LGAs, signed by Samuel Rinah Tari (Nembe), Ambrose Joseph (Brass) and Mark John (Ogbia), withdrew their stance and stated that the earlier position raised was borne out of ill knowledge.

" We the coalition of students leaders from the Bayelsa East Senatorial district, comprising of Nembe (Samuel RinahTari), Brass (Ambrose Joseph), Ogbia (Mark John), hereby retract our earlier position reached to initiate a recall against the Distinguished Senator representing Bayelsa East on grounds of non performance.

" This is upon two days meeting held between a delegation of Ben Murray-Bruce and the students leadership, where a wide achievements of the Senator was made known to the leaders. Which amongst other things include, his remarkable move for the construction of Nembe-Brass road, School fees support of some students of the district, Construction of Solar power supply across the length and breath of the district and many other constituency projects that was attracted to the area.

We therefore, unanimously retrace our earlier move that was made on the 21st August 2017, as it was made out of ill Knowledge, we were not properly abreast with the issue", they said.

The students who earlier lamented that the Senator was not in good relationship with his people and had allegedly continued to shy away from his constitutional responsibilities, renounced their claims.

They therefore called on the entire constituents to continue to support the administration of the senator, noting that inspite of his numerous projects, he has also promised to bring more developmental achievements to the districts.

" We further call on our students and members of the Senatorial district, to continue their support for the Senator as he has promise to bring more developmental achievements to the districts, we also hope to have a townhall meeting with the Senator, as we promise to continue to pursue the struggle for emancipation of our people via students activism, by any means necessary.

", the statement added.

The students leaders further withdrew their ultimatum.

However, the Personal Assistant to the Senator, Mr. William Bruce, had also described their allegation as untrue, stressing that Senator Murray-Bruce is a man of the people. William confirmed that Murray-Bruce had been offering assistance to many people including his constituents as much as he could.

The Senator’s PA stated, ”We do for people as much as we can all the times.  They (those complaining) have not come to approach us for any help or anything. We try as much as possible to help everybody in everywhere in whichever way we can.

”We have been offering assistance to people who call us for help every day.

”However the Senator loves people generally".
