MURDER OF ARMY CADET: VIGILANTE COORDINATOR MAINTAINS YENAGOA IS SAFEST CITY IN NIGERIA, CONDEMNS KILLING.

Mr. Samuel Bunas, the Yenagoa LGA Coordinator of the Bayelsa state Vigilante, a community-based intelligence network set up by the government to assist government and security agencies in checkmating all forms of criminal conducts, ranging from petty robberies, cultism, pipeline vandalisation, sea piracy to kidnapping, has condemned the murder  of Cadet Izibeginwo Enoch Gbavieme, an NDA cadet whose life was cut short by suspected cultists while trying to rescue a victim from their fangs.

Mr. Bunas stated this while addressing pressmen at his residence in Yenagoa, he said though it was an unfortunate incident but maintained that Bayelsa remains the safest place to reside, adding that government and security agencies were up to the task, as members of the Vigilante are also working tirelessly to bring the perpetrators of the acts to book.

He said that the government of Henry Seriake Dickson, would do all in its power to build the people's confidence, he reaffirmed that the Vigilante will not toy with issues on security as it has to do with the lives of people, emphasizing that, the restoration led administration is also not ready to condone with acts capable of breaching the existing peace in the state.

He however, expressed the government’s readiness to provide logistic support for the Vigilante to assist in combating crimes and assured residents to feel free to navigate all the nook and crannies of the state without fear.

“I want to condemn in strongest terms the murder of Cadet Izibeginwo Enoch Gbavieme, while i also extend condolences to the family, it's a painful loss, may God give the family the fortitude  to bear this great loss.

“As you are all aware this administration does not joke with issues with security, the police made arrests barely 24hrs after the incident occured, this is to discredit news making rounds that Yenagoa is not safe, no culprit can go scott free in this Yenagoa as far as i am concerned.

“As the Yenagoa Coordinator of the state Vigilante, I must stress that your safety in this state is adequately guaranteed.

" I encourage investors and visitors to come in, Yenagoa is a safe haven, you van navigate the nooks and crannies without fear of attacks, Look at what is happening in Lagos, Kogi, Kaduna and Kano and you will realize that this state is the safest,” he said.
