2009 disarmament: IYC inquires to know whereabouts of Retrieved Arms & Ammunitions.

The Spokesperson of IYC Central zone, and a Vice-chairmanship candidate in the forthcoming IYC Central zone Elections, Deacon Comr. Tari Agai, has lended his voice to the call of restructuring, he made bold this statement while calling on the Federal Government to make public the whereabout of arms and ammunitions submitted to the presidential committee on amnesty, during the disarmament of militants in the Niger delta.

Deacon Tari Agai gave the charge in a statement to newsmen, saying the non-disclosure of the whereabout of the arms and ammunitions is beginning to give stakeholders in the region a great concern.

It could be recalled that late President Umaru Yar'Adua offered an unconditional pardon to Niger Delta Ex-Agitators who agree to lay down their arms and assemble at screening centres.

A lot of militia leaders and foot soldiers indicated that they are tired of fighting, and want to come out, several types of ammunitions, including gunboats, were surrendered to the Presidential Committee on Amnesty, after the disarmament, Nigerians were yet to witness how the retrieved arms and ammunitions were moved.

Agai who is aspiring to occupy the position of Vice Chairman in the forth coming election in the Central Zone, alleged that there may be possibilities that the arms recovered during the amnesty program may have found its way into the hands of some youths in the north.

The IYC Vice Chairman hopeful, points out that the body language of some youths in the north is an indication that some top boss in the military may have compromised during the amnesty disarmament and veer away from their rules of engagement.

The Former Spokesman of the IYC in the Zone however called on the federal government to heed to calls from various stakeholders to begin the process of restructuring.
