PRESIDENT Muhammadu has arrived back in Nigeria this morning and intends resuming work tomorrow morning after a 10-day sojourn in the UK where he went for a medical vacation during which he handed over power to vice president Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
On January 18m, President Buhari wrote to the senate president Senator Bukola Saraki, informing the National Assembly that he will be going on vacation between Monday January 23 and Monday February 6. In the letter, President Buhari said he was writing in line with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 constitution as amended, which required that he inform the National Assembly that he is handing over to the vice president.
While President Buhari has been away, however, his health has been a subject of much speculation with it being rumoured that he was gravely ill. Some blogs even reported that the president was dead and in response, the presidency had to public photographs of himself and his wife in London.
To end all the speculation, however, President Buhari has returned to the country today and will formally resume duty tomorrow morning. This is the third time President Buhari is handing over power to Professor Osinbajo while holidaying abroad since he assumed office in May 2015.
