DELTA: The winner of the Miss Izon-Ibe cultural pageant, Queen Elizabeth Tonghan, a 400 level law students from Burutu in Delta State, has come out boldly to state that, greed and corruption is the bane of underdevelopment and disunity in all of Izon lands.
Speaking during an interview in her hometown when she was asked to identify the problems of Ijaw land and profer solutions, she categorically mentioned "Greed and corruption" as the main reasons why the Izon land is still underdeveloped.
According to her " The level of disunity in the Izon Nation cannot be over emphasized, the rush for quick money, political positions and greed has resulted to lack of love and Unity, betrayal has been placed right in the centre bank of our minds. Corruption and injustice is now seen as a hand shake by our people as we have lost value for what we are known for which is what the 'IZON" itself stands for (truth), very sad".
"Izon leaders of the region must first shun their selfish interests and treat issues pertaining to the region as an all for one and one for all affair, they must consider the creation of Job opportunities which will inturn help to reduce the menace of youth restiveness and aggravated violence rather than having their attention on gathering enormous wealth at the detriment of Izon people". She added.
She further gave examples of the Yorubas despite having other language speaking people with them like the egbas and ilaje, they have never deviated in pursuing a common goal.
She concluded by calling on all sons and daughters of Izon Nation especially the youths to unite and urged all Izon leaders to imbibe the spirit of love and fairness,
" our different states does not separates us rather it's to show how mighty we are, let us all see ourselves as one people, putting an end to greed and vices aimed at disintegrating us".
