Court affirms Udengs as IYC President, States March 2017 for Next IYC Convention

The Suit filed by Bristol Alagbariya, Wisdom Ikuli and Co at the Sagbama high court asking the court to ask Engr. Udengs Eradiri and Eric Omare to step aside as President and Spokesman respectively of the Council, was today dismissed by Justice E.G Omukoro for abuse of court process and disregard to the subsisting Judgement of a court of competent Jurisdiction.

According to their appeal which was submitted to the Sagbama high court as part of minutes of an IYC National Convention held 16th June 2016, stated that a vote of no confidence was passed on the current President, Engr. Udengs Eradiri, the spokesman, Barrister Eric Omare and nominated Elvis Donkemezuo, Mike Edounkumor as Acting President and spokesman of the Council respectively.

According to the reports in the document, that in the said Convention, as written in the minutes, Ebilade Ekerefe nominated Jonathan Lokpobiri as President but was turned down because of obvious reasons, paving the way for nomination of Elvis Donkemezuo as acting President through a unanimous voice votes, while one Deme Yinkore nominated Mike Edonkumor as Spokesman.

The aforementioned nominators have however refuted the report stating clearly that they were never part of any IYC convention held on 16th June which nominated Elvis Donkemezuo and Mike Edonkumor as President and Spokesman respectively.

The Counsel to Engr. Udengs Eradiri prayed the court to dismiss their case on the grounds of abuse of court process.

Justice E. G Omukoro after hearing both prayers dismissed the case saying it lacks merit, he however made clear that the tenure of the current Executives is for three years to elapse on March 2017, he also stated that no IYC convention will be held before the said date pending when their tenure will elapse.
