Former Bayelsa Tourism DG, Sworn-in As New Commissioner for Tourism Development

Bayelsa State House of Assembly recently  screened and confirmed the former  Director General of the State Tourism Development Agency,  Barr.( Mrs) Ebiere Musah as commissioner, along other nominees.

His Excellency, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, today administered the oath of office to the former Director General, among others as members of the State Executive. Council

The Ministry of Tourism, is the nodal agency for the formulation of State Tourism policies and programmes for the co-ordination of activities of various State Government Agencies and the Private Sector geared towards the development and promotion of tourism.

The Ministry of Tourism in Bayelsa State has under its charge a public sector institution, the International Institute of Tourism and Hospitality  with  autonomous powers.

The ministry plays a crucial role in coordinating and supplementing efforts of the state government in catalyzing private investments in tourism, strengthening promotional and marketing efforts in providing trained manpower resources through the tourism and hospitality training institute earlier mentioned.

The functions of a tourism ministry in this regard should consist of the following:

Handling of all policy matters, including:
development policies, incentives, external assistance.
manpower development,
promotion & marketing,
Investment facilitation and the
Co-ordination with other relevant  ministries and  departments in regulating in the tourism and hospitality sector of the state's economy.
