NPA/NIMASA APPOINTMENTS: IYC FROWNS AT PMB
- Are there no Apc members in N'DELTA, Udengs questions.
YENAGOA: Following Yesterday's composition of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Governing boards respectively, the President of the most prestigious council in Africa, Ijaw youths council (IYC) Worldwide, Engr. Udengs Eradiri has described the appointments as a continue marginalisation and neglection of the Niger Delta people by President Buhari's regime.
It could be recalled that Yesterday 26th August, President Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointments of a 11 man governing board for both the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) respectively, an appointment which has so far generated lots of controversies in regards to omission of Niger Deltans.
Speaking via the telephone, the IYC president lamented that President Buhari has refused to heed to good counsels, advising him to display sincerity towards developing the Niger Delta region.
IYC President lamented that the exclusion of Niger Deltans in the NPA and NIMASA board is a breach of Buhari's due process and a clear evidence that the Niger Delta region and it's people are not part of this administration developmental agenda. He therefore wondered how the Presidency wishes to end the spate of violence, if it is not ready to inculcate Niger Deltans into appointments such as NPA and NIMASA, that is majorly focused on riverine activities.
The IYC President concluded by asking the Apc led federal government, to come out clean and explain to the people that there are no members of Apc in the Niger Delta that worked so hard and relentlessly to see Buhari's emergence into office.
"If Buhari does not want to appoint those in PDP, what about those in APC, what about those that are non-partisan, why the constant neglection, what is the excuse this time?", he added.
