Niger Delta Youth committed to Peace despite Wike's inciting statement, asks Wike to apologize.
• Commends Pres. Tinubu, Otuaro, Tompolo, others for Sustaining peace in the region.
The Niger Delta Youth under the aegis of Coalition of niger delta youth stakeholder have expressed their commitment to peace in the region, despite inciting statements from the Minister . Nyesom Wike.
Recall that the Minister of FCT , Chief Nyesom Wike has been faulted by the ijaws in the Niger Delta over derogatory and denigrating comments on their leaders and the entire Ijaw ethnic group.
However, considered political or apolitical from the reactions of the majority in the Niger Delta Region; that singular comment from the FCT Boss may incite the Region into predictable violence in the coming days if not managed, the group therefore asked the Minister to render a public apology to the Ijaws.
In the wake of the realities, some Niger Delta Youths have vowed never to indulge in activities that will truncate the existing peace in the Region.
The convener of the group and Coordinator of the Sacred Egbesu brotherhood, Apostle Bodmas Prince Kemepadei said; " We will not be motivated or forced to react violently despite the gutter words that Barr. Nyesom Wike used on elders, tribe and the entire ijaw Nation". " We have chosen to maintain our cool which is not cowardice , but we believe the world is watching and posterity is a great reward to the uncultured mannerisms by Minister. Wike's inciteful comments ".
The group who expressed their resolve to maintaining peace in the reality of Wike's barbaric actions said his statements were capable of instigating ethnic crisis and cause a total breakdown of law and order in the once restive region. They also said such reactions towards negativity have been averted for various reasons of National interest and respect for Leaders and elders from Ijaw Nation.
However, the Group commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his approach towards Sustaining peace in the Niger Delta Region as well as the recent signing into law the bill for establishment of the South - South Development Commission which they described as another step in the right direction for the entire Geopolitical Zone.
Consequently, they hail the rigorous efforts of Dr. Dennis Otuaro, Administrator Presidential Amnesty Programme, Chief Ekpemupolo Oweizide Alias Tompolo and other eminent Leaders of the region who are dedicated, committed and working round the clock towards Sustaining peace in the Niger Delta Region despite the challenges.
