Why Nembe should produce IYC Central zone Chairman - Egbesu Apostle

The Coordinator of the Egbesu Brotherhood, Apostle Bodmas kemepadei, has called on Ijaw leaders in the central zone to zone in particular the position of the next IYC central zonal Chairman to the people Ogbolomabiri and Bassambiri, who are the present day Nembe indigenes.

"It is unarguably that the people of Bayelsa East are the next in line for the next leadership of the IYC Central zone

"But for the principle of power rotation to ensure that all our Ijaw LGA'S in the zone have a fair share of leadership, i am suggesting that the Nembe people be considered

"My reasons are that, the Bayelsa East is made up of three LGA'S; Ogbia, Brass and Nembe, while both Ogbia and Brass have produced the Chairman, the Nembe people have not over the years

"The only position they have held is that of an information officer, as i speak, Ogbia is currently occupying the position of the zonal vice-chairman and woman leader, with brass having treasurer, the Nembe people are not represented, is this fair? Why then are we Ijaw people?

" Going by precedent, Ogbia had a chairman in person of Maxwell Oko, Brass had a Chairman in person of saviour olali, but the Nembe have never held such position

"In the last zonal Elections, we saw how Nembe lost out owing to undue interference from political office holder's, ordinarily in that election, going by equity the Nembe people should have been left to contest with themselves, because Ogbia just had the position of the secretary which was the highest zoned to that area, and yet again they are occupying two prominent positions, this is unjust

"Going forward, for equity and fairness, the Nembe people should be left to contest the position with themselves

" I am calling on the IYC stakeholder's of Bayelsa east, great personalities like Snr. Comr. Wisdom Ikuli, Snr. Comr. Olali, Barr Ayebakuro Igbeta, Prince Okenema, our leader Ebi Waribigha and other notable leaders and Elders, to please, come to a consensus agreement, and ensure that Nembe is represented at the leadership of the next IYC central zone

"This is the right thing to do, it is fair, while it is not a constitutional practice, we are Ijaw people and since Ijaw means truth, then let us see that there is equity, any arrangement outside this is an action that will instigate discord amongst Ijaws in that area", Bodmas said.
