Bad Roads: APC Chieftain Urge Lagosians To Bear With Sanwo-Olu
LAGOS – A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Lanre Razak, has pleaded with residents of Lagos State to bear with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and give him more time to put the bad roads in good condition.
Razak, a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), in a chat with journalists in Lagos, expressed confidence in the capability of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu to perform excellently, adding that he (Sanwo-Olu) came into office well prepared and would shock his critics soon in the area of performance.
The APC chieftain, who noted that apprehension being expressed by some stakeholders was mainly on the state of the roads in the state, pointed out that, “The rainy season, which disturbs rehabilitation efforts will soon come to an end to allow full work on the roads.”
While explaining that the climate change that affects Nigeria is a universal phenomenon of which Lagos is not an exception, he disclosed that, “In his preparation to tackle the road problem frontally, Sanwo-Olu has engaged about 12 contractors that would hit the ground running immediately the rain stops.”
He, however, urged the people of the state to understand the situation of things and give maximum support to the governor, assuring that, “By December, everybody would be smiling because Sanwo-Olu is capable of doing things based on reality and not with sentiments.”
He further explained that six months was not sufficient to assess a government and that, “based on his performance in the last five months, and the budget proposal delivered to the legislative House, Sanwo-Olu has convinced all and sundry that the state would be turned into a huge construction site.”
Against this backdrop, Razak appealed to members of the Lagos House of Assembly to expedite action on the proposed 2020 budget so as to motivate the governor to implement all the developmental programmes embedded in the document.
