We have been greeted with reports from Bayelsa State of a 5-year-old girl only identified as Queen who was defiled and abused on Sunday, 10th of June, 2018.
The suspect, a 43-year-old woman resident at Winners road, Akenpai, Yenagoa is said to be a known personality in the state and Sunday school tutor who organizes Sunday fellowship for children in her neighborhood. She allegedly defiled the victim who is the child of her neighbor by (fingering) inserting a mixture of powder, red soap, water in the girl's private with her finger.
According to the report, the victim only complained to her parents when it occurred once again on Sunday, 10th of June, 2018. The victim had endured this abuse. According to medical reports obtained by the family of the victim, the victim has contacted an infection. She is currently very sick as the abuse had continued unnoticed for a long time.
The suspect had threatened the victim that 'God will kill herand her parents' if she should report to them.
The suspect have since been arrested and taken to Akenfa police station since Sunday, 10th of June, 2018. However, the family of the victim have been receiving several threatening calls from a certain Navy Admiral to withdraw the case and settle out of court.
Patriotism Advancement and Community Orientation Network (PACON), a non-governmental organization that have been keeping tabs on the matter learnt that the Suspect was charged with Defilement/Unnatural Offences which both attracts 14 years imprisonment each and the matter was transferred to the gender unit of State CID yenagoa yesterday, 19th of June, 2018.
The suspect, to our greatest dismay and displeasure of the victim's family have been released on bail since 19th of June, 2018 at the state CID. This might not be unconnected to the pressure from the certain Navy Admiral.
