IYC VISITS BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER, CONDOLES WITH THEM OVER MURDER IAN SQUIRE.
The Secretary General of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) Worldwide, Comr. Alfred Kemepado, yesterday Friday 8th, led a delegation to the British high commissioner to condole with the commission over the shameful abduction and subsequent murder of ian Squire, a medical aid worker, murdered in the Niger Delta creeks.
The visit was aimed at re-narrating the Niger Delta story, which has been attributed with all sort of criminal activities, thereby building a violent wall and scaring investors away.
The visit was therefore to chart a new course, the IYC proved to the commission that despite the unfortunate incident, the Ijaw people are good and hospitable. Noting that it does not condone criminality.
Kemepado in his words, "they should not judge the region and Ijaw people by that isolated incidence which we would continue to shame.
"That our people are still hospitable to host all interests, including British Interest.
" And that we would collaborate to ensure there is no repeat of such event in our region", he concluded.
