RESURGENCE OF AVENGERS: FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE - IYC SCRIBE

The National Secretary of the Ijaw Youths council worldwide, Comr. Alfred kemepado, has blamed the resurgence of the Niger Delta militants group "Avenger's" on what he explained as insincerity demonstrated by the presidency. In the Sunday's edition of politics today aired on Channels TV where the scribe was a co-guest, he accused the federal government of deliberately playing politics as regards to the development of the region.

The scribe lamented that the international oil companies operating in the region where adamant in relocating to their host communities despite government directives, adding that it was so because the buhari adminstration was not ready in implementation of it's proposed developmental plan for the oil rich people.

He further accused the government of frustrating all efforts aimed at sustaining peace in the region, citing PANDEF's peace move as being impeded by government forces.

The scribe asserted that it was normal for the avengers to be disappointed following failures of the multinationals to live up to their social responsibility.

" the resurgence of the avengers obviously from what we know is the body language and insincerity of the federal government towards what she had  promised in building the peace process

" pumping in funds into the university of okerenkoko which already has structures doesn't take too long to start, this vice-president had earlier said all oil companies should relocate their headquarter to the region, till date we are yet to see a memo, any action or companies relocating

The Scribe added, that even as the Bayelsa state Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson had made lands available, the federal government is yet to fulfil it's part.

" instead of development, the federal government is deploying soldiers to invade our communities

" the government should rather focus on moving in development that sustains the peace of the region", he added.
