IYC SENDS STRONG WARNING TO NDDC M.D
IJAW YOUTHS IN CENTRAL ZONE ACCUSES NDDC M.D, NSIMA EKERE OF ALLOTING BAYELSA OPPORTUNITIES TO POLITICIANS, IN APPRECIATION OF HIS POSITION AND TO BID FOR 2019 GOVERNORSHIP.
• Visit reveals water hycinth contract, job opportunities, meant for Bayelsans has been allegedly hijacked by Northern National lawmakers and politicians.
The Leadership of Ijaw youths council (IYC) Central zone, ably led by Barr. Tare Porri, Yesterday 29th September, paid a courtesy visit to the Bayelsa state office of the NDDC
The meeting was presided over by the Bayelsa state representative, Prof. Brambaifa.
Speaking at the visit, Chairman of the zone, Barr. Tare Porri, congratulated the Pan Ijaw leader on his assumption into the office, the chairman hammered on the following:
• Blockage of the zonal rivers by water hycinths and need to effect cleaning
• Issues of numerous abandoned projects in the state and need for completion.
• The chairman demanded the commission to make public number of slots alloted to bayelsa under the NDDC volunteer scheme and the beneficiaries.
• Provision of employment opportunities for youths in the zone, thereby reducing restiveness.
• The need to reveal the Bayelsa beneficiaries of the NDDC volunteer scheme, as there are indications that politicians from outside the state have diverted opportunities alloted to Bayelsa.
• Provision of a functional ICT centre for youths in the zone, to build human capacity and intellectuality of ijaw youths.
• Increment of the 47 projects slots for the state and inculcation of the zonal leadership in the administration of all contracts to serve as watchdogs. Because there are several cases of abandoned projects by selfish politicians.
• Revelation of all Bayelsa NDDC executed contracts, cost, beneficiaries and full contact details. The IYC will follow up and ensure investigations into all the projects.
• The ongoing secret employment and the need for Bayelsans to be informed via a public notice.
• The interference of Northern National lawmakers in the affairs of the state office and alloting state benefits to other state in settlement of campaign promises.
• The deplorable state of the state office and need to relocate out of the rented apartment to a built facility, befitting of Bayelsa.
• The chairman presented a case on the need to resuscitate an IYC central clan chairman of kumbowei, Comr. Oyinemi, who became a victim of police rascality, and is in need of #40m for medical treatment.
• The Chairman informed the state rep that the council has began collation of datas of all Bayelsa online NDDC skills acquisition applicants, noting that so far, it has collated 70 and will continue collation, which will be submitted to the commission as a project to be executed for the council by the NDDC. The chairman proposed more than 500 ijaw youths to be beneficiaries under the IYC central zone.
The Chairman further warned politicians to desist from using the commission as an avenue to pay off political debts and promises. He said the leadership will invade the commission's headquarter if what is due to Bayelsa continuously ends in the hands of selfish politicians.
The Chairman cautioned the managing Director, Mr. Nsima Ekere, to stop using Bayelsa's slots to pay off politicians in his bid to appease them for his appointment and bargain for 2019.
Porri assured ijaw youths in the zone of his commitment in providing a sustainable environment and opening of opportunities for youths to thrive successfully and build themselves in various areas in the private sector.
Reacting to the statement, Prof. Brambaifa, commended the leadership for being passionate in pursuing the ijaw agenda, he commended porri for his eloquency, articulacy and outspoken qualities.
He revealed that a new office will be built under his administration, he thanked the state Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, for showing readiness to support in building a befitting state office, he applauded the state government for their resolve to transform Bayelsa.
Brambaifa therefore told the leaders, that all their complains and demands will be channelled to the headquarters, he assured the leadership of his support and pledged readiness to partner and work with them.
He commended them for the collation of applicants in the ongoing online NDDC skills acquisition programme, saying it was a good one, but advised to always report and rub minds with the commission.
He said, the issues of abandoned projects will be looked into, and promised to furnish the leadership details of all projects executed or to be executed in the state, with their beneficiaries and full contact details for follow up.
He promised to create an avenue for a meeting between the zonal leadership and the Managing Director, soonest.
The entire leadership of the zone was fully represented, the chairman IYC epie clan was also in the meeting, other leaders present were, Mike wenibowei, fmr. IYC central zone chairman/Chairman central zone advisory committee, Comr. Amain winstein, Chairman Employment generation committee, central zone, Comr. Preye Agama, fmr. Deputy President, IYC worldwide and hosts of other leaders and Ijaw youths.
