I will never disrespect Elders, Agai refutes reports.
The immediate past information officer of IYC Central zone, Deacon Tari Agai, has responded to statement credited to him from the information officer of the zone, Mr. Kockman Kurobo, describing it as misplaced, stating that his earlier statement was not directed at the Mike Wenibowei led Elders Honorary advisory committee.
Tari Agai was accused of ridiculing the recent inauguration of the Elders Advisory Committee, Central Zone, via a post he made on his Facebook page dated Thursday, 7th September which states as follows, " I Stand Against D Appointment Of Elders Alone As Advisers In IYC
I Rather Suggest A Strategic Committee Made Up Of Sound Minds "
But Agai in his response, said his statement was misconstructed, he said he was referring to Ijaw youths from his clan who had earlier approached him with the idea of setting up a committee of Elders as advisers.
" i made a clear post that calls for a Strategic Committee that will be made up of sound minds drawn from both the elders and the youths of my clan, but was rather misinterpreted that i ridiculed the Mike Wenibowei led Honorary Advisory Committee "
He continued by saying, he has never disrespected those in position of power and would not at this point begin to disrespect Elders, he maintains that he holds Mr. Mike Wenibowei in high esteem, as such the statement against him was callous and aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
" i have evidently showed my regard for Mike Wenibowei by not only suggesting that elders be included in the distribution of our employment chances but also suggesting that the one for the Central Sen. Dist. be given to Elder Mike Wenibowei, which was applied ", he added.
Agai who was also accused of sales of properties belonging to council and employment chances meant for Ijaw youths in the zone.
In his defense, he said it was not the duty of a spokesman to be in possession of council properties, adding that there are no council belongings in his possession neither was he part of any.
