2017 WORLD PEACE DAY: IYC CENTRAL LEADERSHIP GRACES ATISSA'S CLAN PEACE EVENT.

• IYC Central Chairman donates ICT materials to Atissa clan.

The Chairman of Ijaw youths council, Central zone, Barr. Tare Porri, was hosted by the incoming leadership of IYC Atissa clan led by Nicholas, in an event titled "ONOPA COMMUNITY PEACE RALLY", with the theme ' YOUTHS BUILDING PEACE".

The Event organised by the incoming Atissa clan Secretary, Comr. Obele Felix, was aimed at youths sensitization and orientation against anti-social and ill vices, towards building a peaceful and United Ijaw youths.

The Event was held in commemoration of the 2017 World peace day, at Onopa community Townhall, 22nd day of September 2017.

Barr. Tare Porri, flanked by the Zonal Treasurer, Comr. Beladanyo Barass, the zonal assistant Secretary, Oki Isiya, spoke at the event, he promised office equipments to the clan inorder to enhance their operation, he called on youths in the state to be United.

" The IYC under my leadership will provide office equipments to enhance your operation, it pays to live with one another, it pays to be peaceful, it pays to understand ourselves without necessarily causing crises, we need ourselves as ijaw youths to unanimously pursue our visions", he said.

Porri further warned against the dangers of ill social vices and advised youths to always tow the path of peace.

He said " I am a lawyer by profession, attended Uniben, i have a job, i have made my marks, i am married, i am the chairman of Ijaw youths in Central zone, without belonging to any cult group, if i can achieve all these things, how much more you?, it tells you that you don't have to belong to any cult group to make it in life"

" So i want to appeal to you today, organisations other than the IYC will not give you peace of Mind, i am not telling you not to join organisations but if you must live in peace, then you need to embrace peace and stay away from crime", he added.

Also Speaking at the event was Mr. Morrison Tamama, the Chief of Onopa community, he commended the organisers and maintained that onopa was one of the most peaceful community in the state.

Mr. Obele, who spoke, explained that the event was to sensitive the youths on the need to embrace peace, he said the united Nations had advised all organisations to preach the message of peace, as such Ijaw youths were acting to the directive.

" With regards to the United Nation's peace day, Ijaw youths have taken it upon themselves to ensure there is peace in the Niger Delta, we are in this area on a community based peace campaign in pursuit of peace all over the land", he said.

The event featured musical interlude, drama presentation and lectures.

A special community based IYC Atissa clan peace and conflict resolution committee was constituted, to be headed by one Henry Bunas.
