Gross political inequality in Ogbia Constituency (II), Bayelsa State, Otuokpoti (ward 2) suffers political marginalisation - Bodmasnews reports
Ogbia Constituency (II), is one of the biggest constituencies in Bayelsa State, and believed to be the political strength of the entire Ogbia Local government area.
The constituency which is made up of four wards, they are: wards 2, 3, 4 & 5, and numbering of about 17 communities.
According to our findings, since inception of the old Rivers state, from the days of Pa Alfred Diette Spiff, political positions inclusive of appointed and elected, have consistently rotated amongst the people of Ward 5, 4, and 3, with Ward 2 believed to be the political strength, produces the highest number of votes in the entire LGA,
relegated away from high ranking offices and submerged from the political scene all these years. Except of a recent appointment by the Government of Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, a special adviser position, which is the only thing they holding on to.
Below is a narration of the rotational circle as investigated:
Ward 5: (Okodi, Ewema, Emadike, Epebu)

From the narrative above, it seems to us and if you may want to agree, that the womb of justice has been totally destroyed by the above ranking, and a people believed to give strength to a part of their ancestry, has been denied a home in their father's house, despite their enormous contributions to the developmental strides of the LGA, politically, socially, economically and otherwise.
Most painfully discovered, is OTUOKPOTI Community in same ward 2, grossly marginalised, a people who produces about 7,000 votes in every gubernatorial elections, yet with nothing to show for their servitude to the state.
The people of Otuokpoti labor politically, day and night, but like the proverbial "monkey dey work, bamboo dey chop tale", they give their best, but get no reward for their relentless efforts in state building.
The Restoration Government can correct this horrible political inequality. Except; that some may be opined that Otuokpoti ward 2 isn't part of Ogbia Constituency 2, to enjoy political benefits as their counterparts do.
As we approach 2019, we sincerely hope, that justice will be done to the people of Otuokpoti, ward 2, to give them a sense of belonging, to draw government closer to them, and facilitate development in the ward, as it is with others in same constituency.
