Constituents threatens to recall Ben Bruce, accuses him of negligence.

A coalition of students groups in the Bayelsa East Senatorial district, has threatened to invoke section 69 of the I999 constitution, by commencing the recalling process of the Common sense Senator, Mr. Ben Murray-Bruce, accusing him of negligence and without a manifesto for his constituents.

In a statement which was signed by the three National Presidents, representing the students leadership of the three LGA's making up the districts, Comr. Samuel Rinah Tari (NEMBE), Comr. Ambrose Joseph (BRASS), Comr. Mark John (OGBIA), lamented that the Senator was not in good relationship with his people and has continued to shy away from his constitutional responsibilities.

They noted that they have read in different media outfits how the Senator donated relief materials to people of other states, but has failed to carry out a single project in his district. Above all, Bruce was accused of refusal to visit his people since his emergence into office.

Their letter read in parts:

" Since bruce became senator, he has failed to look into into the basic needs and challenges currently bedevilling the east senatorial districts, such as issues of education, as most of our students cannot access good quality education.

He has failed to attract a single project to the districts in terms of infrastructures, roads, others, etc

He has continously and deliberately ignored efforts by the people to create a working relationship that will bring out purposeful leadership for our people.

He is yet to fulfil any of his campaign promises, painfully, he is an Abuja based senator, he refuses to visit his constituency, except only once when he visited his home town and couldn't even stay for upto four hours.

Sincerely, we are tired, other places are enjoying the benefits that comes from having a National representative, our case has been a curse rather than a blessing, we are just like a district without a senator, this is why we are intended to change that narrative".

The Students leaders therefore gave the senator a 10days Ultimatum, to reconcile with his people and make amends where necessary.

They threatened that failure to do so will be occasioned by protest and the commencement of his recall process from the house.

They demanded a townhall meeting with the senator and asks that he takes a trip to his constituency.

" We are hereby giving him an Ultimatum of 10days, starting from 21st August, if he fails to meet with us, we shall take our protest to the National assembly, we will initiate his recall process, our people deserve a better treatment from him, we request to have a townhall meeting", they added.
