RELOCATE TO N/DELTA NOW - IYC TELLS OIL COMPANIES

YENAGOA - The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Central zone, on Tuesday, gave warning to International Oil Companies operating in the region to relocate their corporate headquarters to the Niger Delta, if they insist to continue with their operations.

Speaking to newsmen at the Ijaw House in Yenagoa, shortly after the inaugural ceremony of the 8th Elected leadership of the group in the zone, Barr. Tare Porri, Chairman of the Zone gave the warning.

According to him, the new leadership will mount pressure on oil companies operating in the zone to urgently adhere to the earlier directive of the Federal Government for all IOCs to relocate their headquarters to the Niger Delta region.

Porri further maintained that grave consequences awaits IOC's that fails to adhere to the directive and affirmed that his administration will work round the clock to see the directive is obeyed.

While thanking the Parkins Ogede-led electoral committee for conducting a hitch-free elections, Porri promised to deliver on the mandate given to him, by uniting the entire zone and always protecting the interest of the Ijaw nation.
