Read his full declaration Speech:

" My fellow comrades-in-arms, it has come to another critical moment in our struggle. It is critical because the Ijaw Nation will be agog to witness the outcome of the elections of the IYC Central Zone with keen interest. As this has remain the tradition.

But for me, this election is not about the aspirants or those who chooses to lead Council for the next three years. This election is about redifining our collective position or interest as Ijaw people in view of the circumstances we've found our selves in the present Nigerian state.

Our hopes seems to have been chartered as it was evident, before Prof Osibanjo made an in road to the Niger Delta to talk with the people and confidence building crystalised. The question is; are we consolidating on the gains of those strategic meetings with the Ag. President even after hostilities in the region has been brought to the beerest minimum? Sadly I'm not sure we've, because, even the policy statement made by the Ag. president directing IOC's to relocate their operational enquaters to the Niger Dalta has not been actualized.

Beyond the above, we are also confronted with challenges, ranging from economic deprivation, environmental degradation and political injustice.

However, Ijaw Youth Council has been at the vanguard of this agitations as the only veritable platform.

But I stand bold to say, that we are not yet there not because we don't wish to, but because we are applying same old methods in an evolving world. Now is the time to change the narrative of our struggle by applying contemporary methods in achieving results. To me, this is the only way forward.

More so, it is my firm believe that moving into the Zonal elections, the Electoral Commitee ably chaired by Envangestist Parkins Ogede will deliver on a free, fair and credition elections through which the people's  choice will emerge. On a personal note, I've confidence on the Eleco despite the misgivings. I say this because the Chairman of the Eleco is a committed man of God who has proven a track record of service in God's vine yard and therefore, would not want to bring his hard earned name to the mud.

Therefore, haven't consulted with my God, my family, friends and strategic stakeholders in Council, I Ebilade Ekerefe Promise, do hereby declare my intention to contest as Chairman of the Ijaw Youth Council, Central Zone in the forthcoming zonal  elections slated to hold on Wed 12th July 2017.

Let me inform that I'm been motivated to contest this election with a heart of love, service and inconviniences. The challenges we face as Council is too complex to be allowed for people who are opportunist to take the front stage. I've deligently searved this Council and I've a better understanding of the issues I've raised by public assessment.

What I intend to achieve if I win is to agitate for the rights of our youths and secure that which belongs to them. But most importantly, the hallmark of my government if I win is to bridge the gap between our political leaders whom because of political affiliations have failed to leave beyond party sentiments. To me, this has casted a dark shadow in our quest to our developmental strides and I hope to achieving this God willing.

Thank you all as I anticipate for all your support and encouragent.

Yours in the struggle

Come Ebilade Ekerefe
Chairmanship candidate
IYC, Central Zone
