Gbaranmatu students convention: Doubra, Fianka, Ekpemupolo emerges winners of Godfrey Pondi book review competition

As part of events marking the 2017 4th mega convention of the National Association of Gbaramatu Students, NAGS,  in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Godswill Wuruyai, Diamond Fianka and Miss Gift Ekpemupolo has emerged winners of the Godfrey Pondi Book review challenge.

Desirous in tackling the Niger Delta question, Mr. Godfrey Pondi founder of the organization have decided to deal with the issues bedevilling the region through books.

It would be recalled that the book under review was Lee Kuan Yew's book entitled "From Third World to First , the Singapore story which encapsulates the struggles, battles and emancipation of Singapore as a country.

The heavily contested book review challenge among students of Gbaramatu Kingdom saw three winners.

They includes, Mr. Godswill Wuruyai as first prize winner of 150,000 NGN; Mr. Diamond Fianka emerges as the second prize winner of 100,000, 00 NGN, while Miss Ekpemupolo Gift clinged the third prize of 50,000,00 NGN.

Godfrey Pondi have through the book review committee stated that his dreams and aspirations was to see Niger Deltans cultivating the habit of reading.

According to Comr. Victor Isereke, speaking on behalf of the book club, noted that the young philanthropist decided to choose the book because it is a perfect example of the Niger Delta situation in the Nigerian State.

While presenting the award to the winners of the book challenge, the Hon. Commissioner of Higher Education, Delta State, Engr. Jude Sinebe hailed the winners for the display of intellectual dexterity, stressing that he is highly amazed at the organization of the entire programme. He however, encouraged them to continue to read more, adding that the future belongs to the readers of today.

Meanwhile in a similar manner, Mr. Eddy Pondi had also splashed scholarships for deserving students of Gbaramatu Kingdom. Some of the beneficiaries includes, Miss Moses Uruemu of Delta State University Abraka; Miss Ebimiyensinde Favour of Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro and Miss Adagbabiri Vivian of Delta State University Abraka.
