IYC visits operation Delta safe, discusses way forward on peace and development.

The leadership of Ijaw youth Council (Worldwide) continues its working visit to the headquarters of Operation Delta Safe in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.
The President of the Ijaw Youth council (worldwide), Comrade Barr. Eric Omare, during the familirisation visit, expresses his gratitude to the Joint Task Force on its operation to ensuring security in the Ijaw nation and it's area of jurisdiction. Omare also made case for the detained Ijaw youths who have been in detention without trial, he requested their immediate release upon not establishing any illegality against them.
Only last week, I helped to secure the bail of some of our members in Delta state and am convinced that their release was made easy with the intervention of the Commander of Operation Delta safe, for that he deserves our appreciation, Omare added.
On security, the IYC president, Comrade Barr. Eric Omare, assures that the already working relationship between the Operation Delta safe and the youths will be strengthened, urging the JTF to reciprocate the gesture to reassure the region of the Federal Government sincerity towards the ongoing dialogue.
In response to the charge by the leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council, the commander of the Operation Delta safe (OPDS), Rear Admiral Apochi Suleiman, said the OPDS have being monitoring the events of the youths body, to include the election processes. Suleiman further urged the leadership of the IYC to sensitize the youths about the activities of Operation Delta Safe which is to ensure peace and security in the region, he stressed the fact that OPDS operations is not to intimidate the people but protect them and the oil facilities.
“I want to urge us to separate militancy from criminality, we are not in partnership with any oil company, rather, we are here to discourage illegal shutting down, attack on facilities and other related criminal activities”, Suleiman added.
On collaboration with the IYC for better operations, Rear Admiral Apochi Suleiman, assures the Omare led executives of a good working relationship in accordance with the law.
In addition, Commodore AK Olulowo, laid emphasis on the commander's call of separating criminality from militancy, he also made it known that larger percentage of violence is perpetrated by youths.
Olulowo in his speech, he urge the youths to embrace the green environment initiative, stating that environment degradation is largely caused by illegal activities which poses more danger to humanity.
In his closing remarks, the secretary General of the Ijaw Youth council, Comrade Evang. Parkins Ogede, gave kudos to the Operation Delta safe, hoping for better - healthy environment that will enable development, attract investors and ensure job opportunities for youths in the region.
