IYC CENTRAL CONGRATULATES OMARE, COMMENDS UDENGS ERADIRI

The leadership of IYC Central zone, led by it's acting chairman, Comr. Amiebi Turner, has congratulated the newly elected Executives of the Ijaw youths council (IYC), led by Barr. Eric Omare as President, Iyerifama Godswill Jaja as Deputy President, Evang. Ogede Embele-Akpo Parkins as Secretary-General, on their successful election and victory into leadership to pilot the affairs of Ijaw youths council worldwide.

The Ag. Chairman, noted that he was very pleased with the process, adding that, the elections were conducted inline with the council's constitution and obedience to the various organs of council.

He therefore advised the newly elected leadership to be focused and purpose driven, to pursue peace, unity, development and to ensure that the different warring factions in council becomes a thing of the past.

"The Ijaw Nation is not a conquered territory, I urge you to use this council wisely in pursuit of developments, aimed at recovering our lost territories, conscientising our people to peace building, uniting various warring Ijaw communities having land disputes, provision of wealth, employment and to ensure that Politically, the Ijaw man regains the position we just lost" he added.

The Ag. Chairman further expressed his appreciation to the Engr. Udengs led leadership for bringing sanity and sanctity to the Council, for being visionary, discipline, articulate, vibrant and making the council to gain more acceptance in other Nations (legitimacy), he lastly advised him not to be demoralised by character assassinators and rumour mongers, citing the case of Late Adaka Boro, who was betrayed but today is the Ijaw hero.

" Udengs has made the IYC to gain international limelight, his presence added so much value to Ijaw Nation, he has defined a new method of struggle, one that does not require bloodshed, wars, but by the Pen and articulate vocality", he said.

He also added that it is only God that can reward him for his benevolence, meritorious and selfless leadership to Ijaw people.

The Ag. Chairman concluded by thanking all central zone delegates who defiled all odds to massively come out to exercise their franchise, stating that their resilient has set a new standard for Ijaw people to follow.

He maintained that the newly elected leadership led by Barr. Eric Omare as President, remains valid pending when their tenure expires in March 2020.

They newly elected leadership was elected following an elective convention held at Burutu, Delta State in March 2nd 2017 by the Oscar Isu led Eleco.

The convention was largely attended by all zonal structures, ranging from executives, clan Chairmen and parliamentarians of council.

10. Organizing Secretary - Marcus Ebikemiyen
11. Woman Leader - Yabrifa Jennifer Oliver.
