Udengs Prepares handover note as IYC begins transition process

Following the termination of Udengs Eradiri led administration coming March 2, 2017, the leadership of IYC therefore called on a National Convention Yesterday, 16th February 2017, which held at Okrika in Rivers State, to hasten the process for the emergence of a new leadership.

The Congress which is now termed as one of the best in the history of the council, was smooth, peaceful and well organised inline with the guiding principles of the constitution, there were purposeful deliberations and vision driven contributions, aimed at building a more formidable and united Ijaw youths body.

It was largely attended by various youths, Leaders and Stakeholders of the Council drawn from the three zones (Central, Eastern and the western).

Among other issues raised, the Congress resolved to set up an electoral committee to conduct elections to facilitate the process of electing new national officers to manage the affairs of the council from March 2017 to March 2020.

According to a statement from the council's spokesman, Barr. Eric Omare, the Electoral committee has the following persons:

• Oscar Isu (Central Zone:  Chairman)
• Colarye Briggs (Eastern Zone: Secretary)
• Lokpobiri Ebiki (Central Zone)
• Mark Bubaraye (Central Zone)
• Samson Oroupa (Western Zone)
• Fred Brisibe (Western Zone)
• Patience Green (Eastern Zone)
• Harry Matawa (Lagos Chapter)
• Bertram Orifie Mannie (Abuja Chapter)

Omare confimed that the above mentioned Electoral Committee has been formally inaugurated by the President of IYC, Udengs Eradiri with a mandate to commence the electoral process without delay.

It could be recalled that the President of the council has always displayed his readiness to hand over to a new successor immediately transition process commences and new leaders elected.
