Group to Aggrieved IYC Executives: Stop ridiculing Ijaw People

- Says factionalised Eleco is a shame

A socio-cultural Ijaw body has desribed as shameful and a total disregard of the existing constitution of IYC which the aggrieved officials appended their signature upon at Ofunama and swore to defend in presence of all Ijaw youths, but could later turn their backs, for reasons to continue their stay in the council.

The group decribed the move of constituting a parallel Eleco as an act of desperation taken as a last minute option to hold onto power till 2019. Noting that the aggrieved Executives were too desperate for power and working to impose themselves on Ijaw youths through the backdoor, he narrated that the aggrieved Executives were scared of elections knowing fully well that they are unpopular candidates and have lost touch with grassroots, as such the only means they implored, was to constitute a parallel Eleco that could do their biddings when called upon.

Speaking on behalf of the group was High Priest Sekibo Agadagba, he advised the aggrieved Executives to always obey existing rules and to desist forthwith from further ridiculing the name of Ijaw youths council.

High Priest Sekibo Agadagba noted that as a result of their mischievous actions, the Ijaws have become a laughing stock in the face of other ethnic nationalities. Sekibo stressed that the council is the apex body and sacred institution of Ijaw youths, therefore no group or individual should lay claim to it, simply because they do not have the necessary potentials to pilot the council.

He concluded by calling on the President of the council to always abide by his peace moves, saying that as a leader, especially of Ijaw people, he should be ready for insults and rebellion, but he should always tow the path of peace for the overall interest of Ijaw people. He called on the factionalised Eleco to immediately  end their activities and save the remaining integrity they have.
