NUBSS PRESIDENCY: NEMBE USING DEP. GOV'S OFFICE TO MARGINALISE US, OGBIA RAISES ALARM

YENAGOA: A group known as the "Concerned Ogbia Students" has raised alarm over plot by some Political Students leaders in the state to utilise the office of the Bayelsa state Deputy Governor to subvert the will of the people and marginalise the Ogbia people in the forthcoming National Union of Bayelsa state students (NUBSS) Elections, set to hold on 21st January 2017.

According to the group leader who identified himself as Comr. Adike wisdom, he decried that some political powers in the government has orchestrated a grand plot to perpetrate injustice in the forthcoming elections.

He explained that the NUBSS Presidency was Zoned to Bayelsa East, Comprising of Nembe, Brass and Ogbia, and overtime the zone has been operating a Zonal formula which was widely accepted by all. He explained that the last two times the Presidency came to the east, Barr. Ibeinmo Romiel from the Nembe house emerged as President, while Comr. Kesse IKoko from Brass house emerged as President leaving the Ogbia house to benefit from it in the coming days.

He further stated that now that it was time for the Ogbia people to benefit, Some persons have instigated the Nembe House to contest simply because they felt the Ogbia has no political powers to support them.

Adike categorically stated that they were not even against the Nembe house contesting, but their most worry is the fact that the Nubss Electoral committee has closed sales of forms yet some political powers in the government are currently utilising the office of the deputy Governor to compel the electoral committee to issue out forms to the Nembe house.

Adike decried that the current actions of these political students leaders simply displays greed and desperation of power at the detriment of Bayelsa students future, he therefore called the attention of all relevant authorities to immediately intervene and stop the injustice that is about to be meted on Ogbia people.
