Man slumps, dies of hunger in Yenagoa as crunch persists.

A 31 year old man (Name withheld) has slumped and died at Okarki junction, Yenigwe town of Yenagoa in what is suspected to be acute hunger.

Preceding his death, the man, a native of Zarama kingdom of Yenagoa Local Government Area, had been reported to have 'begged his neighbors for food' days before his death. The report states that the deceased got no aid as everyone was trying to make do with the little available.
Speaking to newsmen at the scene, the landlord of the deceased who chose to remain anonymous said 'He has been owing almost one year rent, on Saturday he went door to door begging food and no one had enough to give. Another tenant told me he had malaria too'

The unfortunate incident is at the climax of a sustained economic inadequacy precipitated chiefly by the state governments coyness to salary payment.

Julius Bokoru, Yenagoa.
