ROBERT IGALI DECLARES FOR IYC WORLDWIDE SEC. GEN, RECEIVES MASSIVE SUPPORT
A popular Students activists and Ijaw youths leader of the Central Zone, Snr. Comr. Robert Igali today 30th October has declared his intention to run for the position of the Secretary General, Ijaw youths council (IYC) worldwide.
In an occasion held at Yenagoa attended by Prominent Leaders of the council, Students leaders and community Presidents, who graced the event, Igali told them of his intentions to run for the position, he stated categorically as follows:
"The Ijaw nation today is faced with diverse problems ranging from degradation of our environment due to the carelessness of oil corporations , exploitation of our people by oil corporations and the Federal government , state governments have hijacked the thirteen (13%) per cent derivation meant for oil producing areas, many cities, town & villages are still without basic amenities, etc which have led to an arms struggle (militancy) as a means to attract government's (Federal government) attention to the light of our people.
My candidacy is one that is poised to unite all Ijaw sons and daughters to bring justice.
The high-points of my manifesto as the secretary general of the Ijaw Youth Congress are as follows:
• To rigorously prepare minutes for each meeting of the general assembly and aptly pen down all suggestions, recommendations of the assembly.
• As a keeper of the records of activities of the most revered Ijaw youth association (Ijaw Youth council) I will guard and preserve them with diligence and truthfulness.
• To ensure that communication between various organs of the council is effective.
•I will render advice to the Executive Committee based on the secretary general's vantage point as an observer of the council, especially with respect to where remedial measures or new initiatives may seem desirable.
•To solicit the partnership of associations and organizations that shares same aims & objectives with the Ijaw youth council according to the By-laws of the council
• And many more he said"
After delivering his speech, the young leader was unanimously applauded, the various leaders who were present endorsed his candidacy and vowed to ensure he emerges.
