WE WON'T ALLOW SELFISH INTEREST TO DESTROY NDU --- GOV. DICKSON

Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has again restated his resolve not to allow any individual or group to destroy the Niger Delta University (NDU) because of selfish interest.

Speaking when he received a delegation from Amassoma community, the governor stated that the NDU remains a pride of Bayelsa as the only state owned university and as such must be preserved.

He expressed worry over the current situation of things in the NDU, noting that it is the handy work of mischief makers who are out to destroy the school and turn around to blame the government.

Dickson condemned ASUU in NDU for embarking on strike even before deliberations commenced and insisted that their demand for the payment of all their salaries in full and now three months  before calling off the strike is unpatriotic.

According to him other civil servants accepted and has received fifty percent of their salary arrears after realizing the limited resources at the disposal of government but ASUU refused which has led to the continue closure of the institution.

The governor frowned at the ongoing propaganda aimed at discrediting the government and stressed that NDU is not owned by Amassoma but the state and thst he is the visitor to the university and their employer so they can't claim protecting the indtitution more than its owner .

He thanked them for the overwhelming support during and after the election and also keeping the peace in Ogbein clan and encouraged them to double their efforts and ensure a zero crime zone in Ogbein clan.

Earlier leader of the delegation, His Royal Majesty King Oweipa Jones Ere 111 appreciated the efforts of the governor to resolve the crisis and appeal for a quick resolution of the contending issues to enable students return to school.

King Ere also commended the governor for reconstructing the Tombia Amassoma road, connecting electricity back to the community and especially the airpot project saying that no government has done what this administration has done after Chf. DSP Alamieyeseigha and called for support for the restoration administration to achieve their mandate.
