WE ARE STILL ON STRIKE - NDU ASUU, SAYS GOVT IS YET TO COMPLY

YENAGOA: The Academic staff union of Universities, Niger Delta University chapter, in a public statement has refuted the reports from leadership newspaper, which reported in it's caption as follows: "ASUU SUSPENDS STRIKE IN BAYELSA", Asuu-NDU described the publication  as false and advises students of the institution and the general public to disregard it.

The union further said that it's ANC action is still very much active pending when the state government will succumb to it's demand of two months salaries, the statement further expressed optimism in resumption of lectures.

The Asuu-NDU statement which was made through it's official Facebook page reads as follows:

DISREGARD RUMOURS OF STRIKE SUSPENSION FROM LEADERSHIP NEWSPAPER

The speculative report by an "Abuja based" leadership newspaper misinforming the public particularly students of Niger Delta university about the suspension of NDU strike is not true.

1. ASUU in their last Congress agreed to call off the strike if two months salary is paid. They also said that after they receive their salary, they will call another Congress to suspend the strike.

2. The bayelsa state government has not released any report about the payment of the two months salary to ASUU members.

3. The school management has not released any memo  informing students about resumption.

4. No "bayelsa based" media house or  online platform has released report about suspension of NDU strike.

Therefore, everyone is advised to stop spreading rumours in as much students anticipate quick resumption of school.
