NOTHERN GROUP TO BUHARI: BE FAIR IN YOUR APPOINTMENTS

Jos – Chairman of 19 Northern States and Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja of Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Yakubu Pam has urged President Muhammad Buhari to be fair to Northern  Christians  in his appointments  of northerners  into key positions of authority under the present dispensation.

Rev. Pam in a statement issued in Jos at the weekend, a copy of which is made available to Independent, noted with concern what had become of northern Christians in states such as Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Kano, Jigawa, Borno and a host of others in the core North, saying they have qualified Christians, yet they have been forgotten in the scheme of things  under Buhari Presidency.

He lamented that while there were allegations from the Southern Nigeria over  the appointments made so far in favour of the North, facts on the ground reveals that these appointments were lopsided in favour of Muslim core north to the detriment of northern Christian minorities.
Pam advocated for fairness in the appointment of qualified Nigerians into positions of government, adding that the appointments made so far in the last one year by President Buhari has generated concern among northern Christian faithfuls ..

Rev. Pam advised President Buhari to carry out a review of appointments he has made so far since he assumed office over one year ago, so as to give  all sections of Nigeria a sense of belonging.
In another development, Rev. Pam questioned the rationale behind the Minister of Interior, Major General Abdulraman Dan Bazau declaring additional day to already two official days as public holidays for Muslim faithfuls to celebrate the Eid El Fitri Sallah celebrations.

He said whatever might be behind such declaration, it was done in bad faith as government should have weighed the implication of having three days out of 5 working days in a week as public holidays.
Rev.Pam added that government must be sensitive to the yearnings of the people at this time that its  economic policy is biting so hard on people.

The northern CAN Chairman called on President Buhari to act as a father to all and not allow the few elements around him to push him into taking decisions that will not move the country forward.
