Insecurity on Bayelsa waterways: lawmaker begs FG to intervene, Says state govt. is insensitive
In his reaction to the sequence of nagging impunity displayed by activities of pirates on Bayelsa waterways, especially on the Brass /Nembe waters, the lawmaker representing Brass 1 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly , Hon Israel Sunny-Goli has described the situation as pathetic and heart-rending, which had not only endangered lives and properties, but had also exposed the state government shameful insensitivity to the mood of the people.
Hon Israel stated this on Saturday 2nd, July 2016 while addressing the ordeal of those who have been recently bereaved by pirates attacks.
However, while mourning with the bereaved, the lawmaker advised the state government to shun paying lip-service to sensitive issues, but wake up to her constitutional and moral responsibilities. Adding that pirates should not be perceived and treated like mere criminals, but terrorists. He therefore pleaded with waterways users to be more vigilant and conscious of security.
To this end, Hon Israel Sunny-Goli has decided to call for federal government intervention to curb the menace. Furthermore, he has promised to support security agencies with his ``widow's mite ".
